Dr Oby has over nineteen years of working experience in the counselling/psychology arena and has worked for many years in the National Health Service (NHS), Private Practice and Educational Sector. Within the Educational sector, Dr Oby held various posts and offices e.g. University Course Director, External Examiner for few leading Universities.
Dr Oby's primary qualification in healthcare profession is Medicine and Surgery (MBBS), and her postgraduate doctoral qualification is in counselling psychology with specialism in Mental Health, Sexual and Reproductive Health. She has in addition numerous other training and qualifications in health-related areas.
Dr Oby is a chartered and Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society (BPS), Senior Fellow HEA, and registered member of the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). She is also a member of several professional bodies such as: British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), Social Care Institute for Excellence (SCIE), British Fertility Society (BFS), MedScape - Ob/Gyn & Women's Health (USA) and a Life Member of Omicron Psi Honour Society (USA).
Dr Oby works with clients/patients faced with any of the following sexual and reproductive health issues:
- infertility/sub-fertility in males and females,
- sexual dysfunctions in males and females
- miscarriage and stillbirth,
- post-natal depression,
- stress and anxiety in unplanned pregnancy.
In her clinical work with clients, Dr Oby uses her vast knowledge to assist her clients deal with their mental health, sexual and/or reproductive problems.
Dr Oby uses the following approaches to help her clients/patients:
- Integrative Therapy: (combining two or more of these approaches: CBT, Psychodynamic, PCT, Family therapy, Existential Therapy)
- Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
- Acceptance and Commitment therapy (ACT)
- Systemic Therapy
